We don’t gather and wear name tags. We don’t tell everyone what we do… We’ve lived a certain way all this time; we’ve learned to stay under the radar and view attention with skepticism. We’ve learned not to tell our friends in order to keep them out of harms way. We’re like this because the law is still after us, we still have business to attend to, and we’re still under the gaze of the world. We can’t be photographed because we can’t show you what we look like, where we are, or what we’re doing… We’ve learned to love our anonymity; our secrecy. But ironically, we want to share what we think, what we’re proud of, and what we feel special about; what we feel is important. We want the world to know. We are the Humboldt Underground…
Bob Dylan said Abraham Lincoln said that “half of the people can be part right all of the time, some of the people can be all right part of the time, but all of the people can’t be all right all of the time” (…and they were both probably blazed when they said that). So who is right and who is wrong when it comes to current the cannabis conversation. Who are the true industry makers? Who are the new industry fakers?
Where is the epicenter of America’s (or California’s) cannabis industry? Where does Humboldt County fall into current cannabis conversation. Has Colorado, Washington, Oregon, or the Bay Area hijacked the cannabis industry. Whose right? Whose wrong? Will smokers, blazers, movers, shakers, buyers, trimmers, growers, gardeners, farmers, and story tellers remember who provided cannabis to the nation and world during the war on drugs; practicing civil disobedience while developing a unique and expert cannabis culture? Humboldt Underground (HU) is devoted to unearthing and promoting Humboldt County and the greater Norther California’s cannabis culture, history, and knowledge. We see Humboldt as the epicenter of a ‘silicon valley like’ talent pool. However, cannabis experts as opposed to tech experts inhabit these hills as opposed to valley’s. HU seeks to provide accounts of this history, culture, and knowledge that has influenced the way the world grows and knows the cannabis plant.
In order to do this HU staff and members will share the stories, opinions, beliefs, expertise, and knowledge of Humboldt County, Emerald Triangle, and greater Norther California cannabis communities. We strive to give a voice to those who silently protested the war on cannabis. We wish to bring the members of our segmented and war torn community together; to a place where shared knowledge can grow into an identity with a common history; where Humboldt Underground cannabis experts can take their rightful place atop the national cannabis industry.
